At the WarpStock Hersehy, I had won a notebook computer; an IBM Thinkpad A22m. It had a power port problem. One needed to solder something to it so the power cable would fit. I found a port replicator that works with it and use it to supply power/power the battery without having to open the Thinkpad.
Glad you were able to fix it, Tom. Those power connectors are a regular issue for a number of (now) older ThinkPads.
Since it elevates the back of the notebook, it allows air to pass under the computer to help keep it cool. Hopefully to keep from what happened to the couple of Dell computers happening to my Thinkpad. 
The T23's suffer from a real heat problem, which IMO is exacerbated by essentially a 700MHz Pentium III case design with a 1+ GHz CPU on it. They just don't duct the heat efficiently. The A series seems to hold up better (even the later A2x models). My T43 really cooks, and upgrading the drive to a 100GB Travelstar has made the palm rest actually uncomfortable, as the drive is located under the right side rest and there's simply not enough shielding between the drive bay and the top of the computer.
T60's now use SATA drives, but I haven't had the opportunity of running one long enough to determine whether lenovo has addressed this (nor have I had an opportunity to upgrade beyond the stock 60GB drive in the models I've set up recently).

One could use one of those device that elevate and cool a notebook computer. I have one with two fans that helps keep it cool. 
http://forum.thinkpads.com has a section for the T60. They might know more about whether or not they have addressed the problem. 
I bought a new hard drive for the A22m. I have not yet installed eCS onto it. I want to see if I can dual boot eCS and ReactOS. 
I have replaced the hard drive in the A22m. I might dual boot it with eCS and ROS. I will use Airboot if I can figure out how to install it.
Jan van Wijk uses (or used) Air-Boot, so you may be able to get some help from him. I looked at it, and was intrigued by its approach, but I was turned off by some anti-American sentiment in the disclaimer text, so I will not use it.
What I'd really like to do is configure GRUB on my machine, but frankly, I haven't got the time...

Since ReactOS is still being developed and not really made for notebook computers. I will just install eCS onto it. With Airboot having anti-American sentiment in the dislaimer, I will not use it either. Thanks for the information.
I tried ReactOS on it but it would not install. I tried DFSee on the new hard drive in the A22m. It seemed to mess it up. I used PCDoctor to erase the hard drive. It became totally erased after a couple of hours. I was able to install eCS 1.2r onto the hard drive. It seemed to work, at first. While trying some programs, it froze up. I did a reboot but it did not detect the hard drive or the operating system. I guess the A22m is no more. 
I still have a Thinkpad T23 and my desktop.
