It seems cities with casinos have cheaper room rates since they hope the visitors would make up the difference in gambling.
Besides the room rate, we have other factors to consider: availability of properly sized meeting rooms, ability to use our own AV equipment, broadband access (yes, I really thought that in Hershey it wouldn't make a difference, but in hindsight, not having it - and we didn't solely because of the cost factor), and food - to name a few.
I'm not opposed to the idea, but merely pointing out that there are a number of items which need to be investigated (I know nothing about the hotel scene in Vegas).
I'd be interested to see if we get as much activity in this thread as for some of the other proposals.
Las Vegas might be too much of a 'gamble'?
There would definitely be alot to do and see in Las Vegas. (before and after the convention).
Is there a OS/2-eCS users group at or near Las Vegas? I guess Las Vegas would be a 'gamble'.
